Overcoming his demons. An Interview with Rich Vysion.
Welcome to fired up Friday. Today, we're going to do something new and have an interview with someone. I’ve mentioned before that this would sometimes take place.
The very first guest is Rich Vysion. That's vysion with a Y. Rich is a rapper that says he’s more of a spoken word type of rapper. He is into deep messages about inspiration such as self-worth and being confident. He is working on content that he is looking forward to sharing with the world.
Rich recently just experienced the studio because it had been five years since he was in a professional studio. He suffered from a lot of anxiety and nervousness, but he had a great support system from his producer, who’s also a cowriter that he has been working with behind the scenes. His producer flew from Los Angeles to New York to help him with his vocals and recording. He felt very fortunate to have her in the studio with him as he was recording. He also had a vocal arranger who assisted via zoom with his vocals as well and gave him feedback during the recording which was invaluable.
Rich was grateful for the whole experience. He goes on to talk about overcoming his demons. The backstory behind Rich is that he was in a really dark place in his life where he was going through rough patches and a deep depression. He felt alienated from family and friends. He spent a lot of time in his room internalizing his feelings and thinking about the things that people would say to him in regards to his music. He cared a lot about what people thought and allowed that to impact him in a very negative way.
He goes on to explain that he didn’t do any good to his mental health. He allowed his mental health to get to a dangerous low. He decided to get therapy to help gain the confidence about his self-worth. He found it difficult to be self-honest and felt alone and isolated from the world. This new song that he worked on is special to him because it allowed him to work on healing from his past demons.
He cared so much about what other people thought that it made him live a facade and not be true to how he wanted to be. He allowed other people’s judgement of him dictate how his music and his own image was as a person. It made him have a deeper appreciation for people who fight depression and suicidal thoughts.
Now his mission is to bring his artistry to the world to help inspire other people to overcome their demons.
Rich brings up another interested point. He felt that he had to give himself permission to be self-honest and follow his gut. He overcome feelings of regret and has decided to let go of his old music and embrace his new music.
He wants his music to be genuine and honest moving forward and fully represent who he is. Rich has taken his hardship and has become an accountability leader for different groups. He wants to help people who are going through anxieties and has committed to emotionally sponsor people to help them overcome their demons.
Rich’s vision is to connect and reach people regardless of the numbers. He doesn’t care if it’s two people or a hundred thousand people his goal is to connect. He’s learned that he doesn’t have to chase having followers to feel validated. He’s tired of artists seeing each other as competition. He wants artists to see each other as collaborators.
