Embracing Your Inner Strength: Overcoming Discouragement

You have the power to not let other people’s opinions discourage you.

Embrace Your Strength

There's a silent strength within each of us, a resilience that often goes unnoticed until we're faced with challenges or criticism. It's that inner voice that whispers, "You can do this," when the world seems to say otherwise. But how do we tap into this strength, especially when faced with discouragement from others?

I will share my process. First, I tell myself every day when I wake up, ‘’You got this!’’  That statement is not some generic pep talk.  It’s me feeding my own soul energy and knowing that however the day unfolds, I am committing to getting through it.  I am committed to finding the strength within to get through whatever challenges come my way.

One of the biggest sources of inner strength for me has been to 1000 percent trust myself and to trust the process.  I know that rather I succeed or fail, every step is a stepping stone to flow forward and that everything is all about perspective.

Nurturing Resilience

In a world filled with opinions and judgments, it's easy to let the voices of others drown out our own. But remember, you hold the key to your own resilience. It's about acknowledging the negativity around you while choosing not to let it define you.  Let me say this again, it’s about acknowledging the negativity around you while choosing to not let it define you.  Why is this important?  It’s important because there is a lesson that we all can learn from everything, rather it’s positive, neutral or negative.  It’s not about is it right or wrong, it is true or untrue, but it’s more about what can I learn from a,b,c that can help me in some way.

Instead of internalizing criticism, use it as fuel to propel yourself forward. Take a moment to reflect on your own worth and capabilities, recognizing that you are stronger than you think.  Look, I know for me, it’s not always about what someone says, but it’s more about how they say it.  I had a recent experience during a livestream where someone said something in a way that was triggering and disrespectful, but what they were saying was correct.  I took a breath, applied the suggestion and then I moved on.  But had I let the emotional piece get to me, I would have handled it differently and came from a place of reacting to the trigger instead of embracing and applying the lesson.  The key here is that I didn’t allow it to control me, but instead I took control of it.

Finding Your Voice

It's essential to remember that not all feedback is constructive, and not all criticism is valid. Learning to distinguish between helpful advice and baseless negativity is key to maintaining your confidence in the face of discouragement. Trust in your own intuition and stand firm in your beliefs, even when others may try to sway you.

Reflect and Engage

Take a moment to reflect on a time when you felt discouraged by someone else's opinion. How did you overcome it? What strengths did you draw upon? Share your thoughts in the comments below.  For more thoughts and insights, visit my website steveryan.com
