Embrace Change: Unlocking Networking Opportunities
Have you ever found yourself wondering about a lack of support or opportunities? Then the power of networking might change that. Networking is simply an energy exchange. Once you understand this concept, it demystifies the process.
Energy Exchange
Energy exchange typically falls into one of three categories: parasites, balancers, and people pleasers.
Parasites are individuals who only consider what they can gain from a situation. They show little concern for mutual benefit and are primarily focused on their own interests. Parasites are often seen as users, leaving others drained and feeling exploited.
Balancers understand the dynamics of give and take. They are both givers and receivers, recognizing the importance of saying "no" when necessary and appreciating the natural flow of energy in relationships.
People pleasers tend to give excessively, sometimes to their detriment. They often struggle with discerning who is genuinely supportive and who is taking advantage of their generosity. This can lead to isolation and missed opportunities.
Both parasites and people pleasers are imbalanced, and surprisingly, both extremes can hinder the building of a true, authentic network. Striving for balance is a commendable goal, although it doesn't require every individual interaction to be perfectly equal.
My personal goal is balance, despite my past struggles and occasional tendencies toward people-pleasing. I remind myself that it's okay to say "no." When I give, I do so from the heart, without expectations from the recipient. The universe has always taken care of me in return. I've witnessed countless instances where I've acted from a place of genuine kindness, and then, at another time, someone else unexpectedly reciprocates. My approach involves viewing my actions as contributions to the universe rather than to an individual. This perspective has been incredibly liberating, making it easier to decline requests when necessary. I give when I feel compelled, unaffected by any emotional manipulation. This freedom is profound, allowing me to trust fully that the universe will provide.
Note that being a balancer doesn't require each situation to be balanced. Instead, it's more about maintaining a mindset and radiating an energy that remains true to your values, regardless of whether you encounter a parasite, balancer, or people pleaser.
Be That of What You Want from Others
Networking is fundamentally about energy. Your actions, both in public and in private, matter significantly. Embody the qualities you seek in others. If you desire support, be supportive. If you aspire to lead, learn to follow when necessary. If you aim to teach, be willing to learn. Whether or not you believe in energy, it is a palpable force. The more you connect with it and learn to harmonize with its rhythm, the more you will experience genuine freedom.
