Are You Ready for Momentum?
Have you ever felt that surge of energy when you finally decide to take action on something you've been contemplating for a while? It's like a wave of empowerment sweeping over you, propelling you forward into new territories of growth and opportunity. But why is taking action so important? And what happens when we dare to act on our dreams?
Embracing the Ripple Effect
One of the hardest parts of a journey is to take the action of getting started. Do you have something that you ‘ve been thinking about doing, you’ve researched and you are struggling to get started? Maybe the excuse comes in your head to say, you’re not ready yet. When will you ever be ready? Sometimes getting started can start with the smallest simplest step. I want you to think about what is the smallest action that you can take right now to get something started. There is something about energy that creates a ripple effect. Once you get your momentum started, you’ve already crossed the threshold of the hardest part.
Every Step Matters
Last month in April, I discovered that I could write articles on Linkedin. I challenged myself to do articles every single day for at least 2 weeks and I did that. Although I said I would be releasing articles weekly, I wanted to do daily articles for a short amount of time to overcome any obstacles or excuses that would prevent me from releasing it. The response was immediate and affirming. Within just 24 to 48 hours, my LinkedIn newsletter, "Strategies for Freedom," welcomed 55 new subscribers. Now, to some, this might seem like a modest number, but for me, it's a testament to the ripple effect of taking action. Each subscriber represents someone who resonated with my message. It's a reminder that even small steps forward can create significant waves of impact.
Cultivating Momentum
You are your biggest enemy to momentum. Although it’s ok to take breaks here and there, it’s important that a break doesn’t become a full stop. A break could mean slowing down to where you’re doing something that takes you 5 minutes in an entire day just to keep the momentum going. You will have to discover what works for you. Some people can handle a complete break without giving up on what they are doing. Just remember, it’s very easy for habits to form, especially if you go too long away from your momentum. Finding a way to sustain your momentum, including any ups and downs, will be the key to moving forward.
For example, even at the time of writing this article, this has been a challenging week for me. But I was determined to release an article this week before Monday. I’ve literally stopped everything I was doing and became still and completed the article. Although it’s later than the usual time that I release, I’m still doing it. I’m going to go and step further and prepare next week’s article as well so that it’s already ready to be released. At the beginning of this month, my goal was to have all of the articles done for the entire month. I did not achieve that goal. And now I’m finding myself doing the articles closer to the release dates. There’s nothing that I can do to change what has already happened, however, if I commit to working on 1 article per day over the next week, then I can have enough articles ready for the rest of may and possibly even June. I’m sharing my thought process with you so that you can apply it to your own situation. Now that I’ve finished this article, I feel a great sense of fulfillment.
